Back from the dead.

Posted by atleti on March 12, 2008

When Atleti lose, it demotivates me…a lot. All I want to do is sing their praises here, but when they lose against the likes of Zaragoza in such a disgraceful manner, it’s, well, discouraging…to the point where I can’t even bring myself to blog about the mayhem.

Hence, the blog-laziness.

/rant over.

Moving on…

INJURY LIST
It’s short. Motta is still in the USA recuperating from his latest knee operation while Valera continues to recuperate from the knock he picked up against Zaragoza.

Maxi left the latest training session early because he had a bit of pain…precautionary decision.

Seitaridis has been participating in training sessions after nearly three months out with injury. Same goes for Leo Franco, but I doubt the Argentine will play much.  Should Abbiati continue on as 1st choice keeper or should Leo Franco reclaim his spot? I’d stick with Abbiati at this point.

RUMOUR GOOD NEWS!
Word is we’re looking for a club for Reyes, easily the worst signing of 07/08. …12 million euros down the drain, but thank goodness he’ll be shown the exit at the end of the season.

Anyway, next up? #20 Levante at home…

…be back with an entry on that.

Anything missing? Share.

David de Gea the Spanish under-17 goalie has signed a professional contract.

  2. atleti said

Yep! I read that. There was a little clip of him on AS talking about it. Another top prospect, I hope.

  3. Ram said

I am not sure on the Reyes thing either. Think we should hold onto him.

  4. Mohammed said

I think we should give Reyes another chance. Let’s keep him for another season, then if he fails, we get rid of him.

  5. Ram said

Yes…he is a good option off the bench.

  6. Ram said

Just read in Marca… we might offer Reyes for Aquilani from Roma.

  7. atleti said

REYES has got to go! No ifs, ands, or buts!!!

I did read that they’re trying to offload him to a Serie A club. I think he’s burned all of his bridges in Liga and the Prem…

Anyway the Marca stuff is just another made up story….from my side I want Reyes to stay

  9. day1star said

Quite frankly why flog a dead horse, Reyes has not done anything coming off the bench and the rare occasion he got to play from the start he was useless. Cerezo has said there will be at least 3-4 new signings in the summer in the defense and the midfield.

Players that we have been linked with so far are:- Diego-midfielder, Thomas Ujfalusi-defender, Johnny Heitinga-defender, Guillermo Ochoa-goalkeeper, Xabi Alonso-midfielder, Reina-Goalkeeper, Biglia-defensive midfilder, Patricio Rodriguez-Striker, Javi Garcia-midfielder, Moya-goalkeeper, Carlos Salcido-defender, David Albelda-midfielder.

Who would you guys like to see come? Have i missed anyone out?

  10. day1star said

Oh, yes, i forgot we’re alo being linked with Sevilla’s Fazio.

  11. day1star said

I was just reading that Chelsea are preparing a bid for Aguero of Drogba + cash, I hope Atletico tell them where they can go!

  12. day1star said

Sorry, not Drogba plus cash but Cash plus a player, anyway forget that a little bit of news which made my day, Bolton are out of the Uefa Cup, they lot to Sporting.

Diego would be an insanely good signing, but I’m not holding my breath. He keeps on saying he wants to play in Serie A.

Good to have Bolton’s UEFA run finally end.

  14. atleti said

Oh wow…Forlán got stamped on by Seitaridis during today’s training session.

  15. atleti said

From that list you gave, day1, I’d want the club to sign Ujfalusi, Heitinga, and Reina. Diego or Arteta would be FANTASTIC.

What type of midfielder is Xabi?

  16. Armon said

Xabi is an incredibly good passer and would be a good fit though id rather have diego or arteta

  17. Ram said

Actually it would be good if we can sign Xabi. He can sit behind and dictate play and allow Raul to move a bit forward. For me it would be 4th place first before thinking of other transfers.

  18. Luiz Pereira said

Reyes better go. 1 year is enough to see that he doesn’t want to be here. He plays with no heart. No will . . .

. . . as if he left his heart on Concha Espina.

  19. Volvemos a quedar una hora antes
    Rojiblanco:

Acude a la Puerta O, el próximo 16 de marzo, una hora antes del partido, para gritar contra Gil y Cerezo.

Si realmente quieres al Atleti, no dejes de demostrarlo PACÍFICAMENTE. Con la fuerza de la palabra.

  20. day1star said

We’re being linked with Aquilani of Roma as well.

  21. day1star said

I can’t see either Diego, Arteta or Reina coming in the summer. We’ve got a good chance with Xabi as he’s surplus to requirements at Liverpool and he would be very good in the centre of midfield alongside Raul Garcia. We’ve also got a good chance of getting Ujfalusi and Salcido, Heitinga i think wants to go to Real. Ochoa would be a fantastic buy but there’s a lot of big clubs in for him. Biglia, i know wants to leave Anderlecht, but i don’t know how far we’ve got with him.
I was reading today that we might be offering Reyes plus cash for Aquilani?

  22. atleti said

Is Xabi more defensive mid or attacking mid?

  23. jonkon said

xabi is more defensive, but he is a great passer. he’s a deep lying playmaker, but to be honest, he doesn’t seem very effective. he’d be decent defensively but who in their right mind would choose him over diego or arteta?

  24. Mohammed said

If we get Heitinga, Ugfalusi and Salcido in defence, I’ll be more than happy.

Diego would be a great addition to the team. With him, we will be one of the best teams in the world.

I think Aquilani is almost impossible to get. He is already in a team playing in the CL and competing for the Serie A.
