Posted by atleti on January 4, 2009

New year, same shit. Once again, we fail to beat a top side in the league. Mediocrity, ahoy.

  1. It couldn’t be said more in just one sentence. We failed in the very same shit: the perverse triangle. Initial players actitude, defense, and, above all, Aguirre.

    un abrazo. miguel

even worse no assuncao perea or heitinga against bilbao.
heitinga not a loss but we need assuncao and perea

  3. RojiBlanco said

Perea will be missed, yes. But i think we have quite a lot quality-players in the center-midfield. Banega, Raul Garcia or even Camacho can take over the place of Assuncao without a big quality-loss.

  4. Good, in the first half we did not do anything, but the penalty gave us hope.En the second half, we were better than Valencia and the tie could go, but it was Valencia’s third goal that took us hope, greetings!

  5. Ram said

Valencia did dominate us in the first half, but in the second half we were better and that good goal from Silva spoiled a possible come back. Bad display from the team.

Btw, that Baraja!! what cheating diving actor!!

  7. day1star said

The midfield was weak, put the defence under pressure, and our defence has a tendency to crumble under pressure. Like i said previously, this is the match where Aguirre should have played 4 1 4 1 or 4 5 1.

  8. Hal said

Aguero won’t be playing against Barca :O damn

  9. day1star said

We are losing 2-0 at home. Heitinga has been sent off.

  10. fernandez said

    3-1 loss
pernia and heitinga you peices of dog shit leave already

  11. day1star said

we have lost 3-1, could have been worse, Banega and Ujfalusi did well when they came on in the second half. Messi took us apart with a hat-trick.

Hello friend, I would like to interview you, in order to explain how the Atleti is lived from the USA. I will publish a small news article in the Pobre Atleti web. Would you send your e-mail to .

  13. day1star said

Perea, Heitinga and Assuncao are out for the match against Atletic Bilbao.

  14. day1star said

it’s 1-1 at halftime, we conceded in the last minute of the end of the first half, sounds familiar doesn’t it. Antonio Lopez scored our goal.

Here’s a link it’s not very clear, but it’s better than nothing:

  16. day1star said

    we are losing 1-3

  17. day1star said

we have lost 2-3, great piece of work from Aguero to chip the ball to Forlan and get the second goal. But, generally we didn’t play well, we couldn’t keep possession, our passing at times is crap. Banega and Pongolle did really well when they came on considering we were down to 10 men since Maniche got sent off.
Valencia proved if you come at us from the start our defence will fall apart and that’s what happened, Aguirre doesn’t bother to change the tactics.

and yes.. Aguirre is a coach of only one tactic.

  19. Mohammed said

Aguirre and his coaching staff are a useless bunch. This team is underachieving because of them.

everyone has said before to keep aguirre because of where we are now compared to when he first took the reigns. I was one of those people. However, now more than ever I think it’s become more apparent that by far the largest reason we’ve advanced so far is because of torres leaving (the money was used to buy simao and some other decent players, and torres leaving opened up opportunities for Agüero). I once thought that because we’re in 4th place instead of 12th or whatever that that meant Aguirre’s doing a good job, but considering the players we have now, faltering against people who are clearly worse than us is UNACCEPTABLE. OFF with aguirre and IN with arsene wenger :)

    Will the nightmare ever end??!!!

  23. Mohammed said

I don’t care anymore! We can’t aspire to anything with the kind of mentality Aguirre is bringing to the team.

  24. atleti said

I hold out a tiny bit of hope for a turnaround, but, with Aguirre’s uninspired tactics…ugh.

  25. Colchonero de Corazon said

I think the team has an underachievers mentality. Even the players admit it in the interviews after the games they lose. The coach is responsible not only for the tactical scheme but also team psychology and mentality. At this point they are not responding to Aguirre no matter what he does. If it was a different coach it would be the same thing, so maybe its time for that change. The defense is still dog crap and the team still plays scared in big games.

  26. day1star said

Some players are just not performing like they should be, all the blame can’t be put on Aguirre, but it’s the coach’s job to sort out the mentality of the players and weed out those who are just not good enough and are pulling the team down.

  27. jose said

Does anyone know if tomorrow’s game will be televised in the US?

  28. day1star said

I think Goltv are showing it.

  29. day1star said

another loss, that’s 4 in a row now, 2-1 Barca won.

We need to go back to the basics of how to pass the ball, how to retain possession and how to give the ball to our own players and not the opposition. Some players seem to have terrible ball control.

Aguero went off injured, i hope it’s not serious.

  30. fernandez said

it wasnt that bad sinama played alright even luis garcia had moments i honestly expected worse

  31. Mohammed said

We really need some “hope” and “change” at these difficult times. ;|

i have a feeling aguirre is going no wheres
