Jornada 10: Osasuna 0 Atlético de Madrid 0

Posted by atleti on November 10, 2008

A picture is worth a thousand words, no?

New season, same crap. Strong challengers for Liga? Yeah right.

We didn’t look threatening until the final 20 minutes. Prior to that, Osasuna were the more ambitious team. They failed to score a penalty in the first half, however– one, it must be said, that should not have been given.

In any case, one has to wonder…

Why did Aguirre bench Forlán?

Why does Aguirre insist on using a 1-4-5-1 formation when we clearly play more effectively with two strikers from the start?

We’re still in Champions and, of course, there is the Copa del Rey, but for how long? Tactical blunders abound.

I don’t know what else to say. My faith hangs by a thread. As usual.

    Couldn’t agree more

besides the barca blowout, we have stayed in the game…we have “hung” in(god only knows how in some games)..but then made a stupid error in the last minutes to blow the game(and im not even bringin up liverpool).
you can still stay with the leaders, even if they beat you, if you just win the “easy” games your supposed to(Valladolid, Osasuna), then we are right there with the leaders(who will have to play each other and hopefully beat each other up).
    …but we don’t win the easy ones…
    its so frustrating…

After while you have to wonder why a team with the quality players that this team has cant win. They constantly play to the level of competition. I doesnt matter if Osasuna had the game of a lifetime, hands down Atletico with all its firepower has got to be able to get atleast one goal.
The players just dont look like they believe most of the time.

I think the players haven’t got over the Liverpool match to some extent. The formatin was crap, our strength is our attack not our defense, so why were we playing 4 5 1, Aguirre sometimes makes crap decisions.

    His decisions cost us games.

Agreed. In other news, apparently Elano is getting a little unsettled at man city. I think he’d be a pretty good and realistic acquisition for us, but we’ll see if that would ever happen…

What a disgrace! We were booed off the pitch by the fans.
0-0 against Orihuela is a poor result at home. We had over 18 shots at goal and only 3 were on target. Both Forlan and Pongolle wasted so many chances it was unbelievable.
Aguirre’s rotation policy means that the players don’t build any sort of understanding or momentum. He should have brought on Aguero in the second half instead of subbing in midfielders when the midfield was creating chance after chance for the strikers to squander.

This is again players playing to the level of competition and not imposing their superiority.

    Effort is not coached.

    Nice win! Aupa Atléti!!!!! =)

good game, but we must work on not conceding goals in the last 15 minutes of games, our defence seems to switch off at times.

It seems like Aguirre looks good when they win and is the blame when they dont play well or lose. I guess it its only natural. I think they need to pick up another 2 defensemen and a stiker in January.

Also, I here that Simao wants to leave to england. Is this true?

  17. fernandez said

simao wants to play in englan after his contract with atleti expires

Any ambitious player knows Atleti is not the club for him. Results like 6-1 from barca, 0-0 with last place does really make a player think of leaving. WE ARE “THE UNLUCKY ONES”.

  19. fernandez said

thats like saying no talent should go to real madrid. this is just the begening your forgetting liverpools clash schalke 04 malaga psv recreativo and many more to come. when does atletico ever start a season promising

  21. Ram said

Well..if Sinama himself not getting enough playtime I doubt Sadick will get anything.

You have to ask the question, how can we concede penalties in the dying seconds of games again and again? And why could we not kill this game off?

  25. jared said

ridiculous…absolutely ridiculous…ive always liked perea, but hes gonna need to be a little more self aware in stoppage time….this is getting sad
