Jornada 3: Atlético de Madrid v Recreativo de Huelva

Posted by atleti on September 19, 2008

((For those of us in the USA: This game will be televised (en vivo!) on Saturday on channel GolTV, 2.00pm (EST)))

First and foremost, this is a special fixture for Sinama as it is his first game against his ex-club, Recre– the club which signed him from Liverpool. Then, of course, there was Kun’s ‘hand of God’ incident.

OFFICIAL STARTING 11: Coupet, Seitaridis, Ujfalusi, Perea, Antonio López, Maniche, Raul García, Simão, Maxi, Sinama-Pongolle & Agüero.

SUBS: Leo Franco, Pablo, Pernía, Luis García, Assunção, Banega, Miguel.

INJURED: Forlán & Heitinga.

The same defence that lost against Valladolid! In terms of Heitinga, he is only mildly injured; from what I gather, he’s recovering from the few knocks that he picked up since international duty.

(It’s a  bit troubling to see that Camacho, one of our most talented canteranos, has not played at all this season…)

In any case, this is a MUST WIN game. Not only because we are playing at home and we have a stronger squad, but also because Recre reek of Segunda División this season.

PETER, hopefully you get this in time but I’m in Madrid (and very jetlagged!) I was just wondering if you know if I can get tickets still, where to go (front office I’m assuming) or would it be sold out? Also if you get this let me know where you might be after the game so we can discuss the win (hopefully!)

guys, I think we can at least agree on one thing…we REAAAAALLLLY miss mista!

  11. Fabulous win for Atleti. Looks like the substitutions are not affecting the team. I thought Raul Garcia and Perea played well, along with obvious Sinama, Kun, etc. What happened to Maniche? Did he find God? I hope that Lil Luis Garcia has a break out year again! 3 4 nils at home, whodathunk?

One thing is bugging me; Maxi’s performance is far below par as the expression goes. He was almost invisible today. I’m wondering if he can keep his place in the first team with this level.

I didn’t see the game (no more GolTV on DISH) but I saw highlights. It seems as though the team is really gelling. Maxi’s name is the only one that is not really shining (had several chances) and I like the fact that Luis Garcia is becoming our assist man. Banega & Miguel showing productivity off the bench is a bonus. All good stuff! Loved Maniche’s goal. No letdowns like against Valladolid cause the other big teams all won today. Aupa Atleti!!!!!
