Kun Succeeds with Argentina…

Posted by atleti on August 19, 2008

(3-0 against Brasil)

…while the rest of the team continue to struggle.

Trofeo Teresa Herrera
Atlético 2 Deportivo 1
Our only goal scored by De Abreu (45′).

Atlético 3 Sporting de Gijón 3
Goals by Maniche (7′), Luis García (30′) and Diego Costa (79′).

More of the same nonsense this season or will the return of Kun improve our game? I hope the latter…

Rumours, rumours, rumours…will we make one more signing before the transfer window closes? We need a playmaker desperately!!! Pernía, Cléber, and Maniche should be shown the exit. Will that happen? Unlikely at this point…

I don’t think either of the above mentioned players are going to leave.

We are rumoured to be following Ever Banega of Valencia..would be a good addition…but where will he play wrt to the competition for those positions. Also we should revert back to the 4-4-2 and not play this 4-1-3-2…just not working with the players we have and no playmaker. Put Maniche beside Paulo and we are sorted.

Good to hear we’re linked to Thiago Neves again. He said in Beijin that will come to Brazil with a news about him. Maybe we’ve gotten him. I hope so.

  4. Ram,

I agree with you. Playing 4-1-3-2, our mid-line, speaking in defensive terms, is weak and not capable to manage the midfield control, being also pushing back between 10 and 15 meters. As a result of that, the midfield is obviously under rival control.

    un abrazo. miguel

I agree. We need to change formation and see if it helps the team mesh better.

Whether many people like it or not..Maniche is the answer. He along with Paulom should be in the middle. Maniche controls the mid field well and his distribution is also good. Whenever he played last season or the season before our possession was excellent which inturn frustrated the opponents.

The concrete news about Thiago Neves and Atlético:

Atletico Madrid launching bid for Fluminense star Thiago Neves
    tribalfootball.com – August 20, 2008
Atletico Madrid are launching a bid for Fluminense midfielder Thiago Neves.
AS says Atletico are ready to meet Flu’s £11 million asking price for the Brazil international, who is currently in Beijing for the Olympic Games.
Atletico president Enrique Cerezo admitted last week they were still in the market for a playmaker and Thiago has emerged as the player they want before the summer market closes.

Cleber is to be loaned to Mallorca.

    Here is a player maker
According to AS, Atletico Madrid have overtaken Roma, Palermo, Fiorentina and many british clubs in the auction for Fluminense 22 year old Thiago Neves. The player should sign today.

This would be great. Neves is a very good footballer + he’s a free kick specialist.

Let’s just hope this is true.

  11. Ram said

Another one…Diego Costa has been loaned to Albacete for a season.

  12. Willen said

    I really hope it’s true.

    I youtube video of him:

Step in the right direction about the loans for Cleber and Diego Costa, I think.

  14. Issued today by The mirror.co.uk:
“Roy Keane is ready to snap up Spain left-back Mariano Pernia from potless Atletico Madrid this week. The Sunderland boss is expected to watch the defender at their home Champions League qualifier with Schalke 04. Agents already have a deal in place – and Keano will pounce for Pernia, 31, if skint Atletico miss out on the big-money group stages.” (http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/2008/08/25/sunderland-primed-to-land-mariano-pernia-115875-20711485/)

If true, I wish Pernía could perform the best game in his life next Wednesday. I would be glad three times: once for him and twice for us. Un abrazo. miguel

The news in AS says Thiago Neves is prefering a move to Man.City in order to play with Elano and Jô.

If that’s true, he’s probably a player with a tiny mind and will fight for the middle of the table. I was hoping something smarter from him.

  16. Mohammed said

The company that holds 66% of Neves contract raised the asking price from 12 million Euros to 16 million, that’s why Atletico pulled out. Obviously, Man City with all that money, which corrupted Shinawatra came with, can snap Neves easily.

  17. KiKoGoL said

It will be very difficult to trace, although we will have to rely on the Kun.
I hope that sell the team’s worst player, Pernia

    Saludos!

are they seriously not showing the game on goltv or espndeportes because of hallo bundesliga? this is the BIGGEST GAME IN THE QUALIFERS! how are you guys planning on watching it?

  19. Ram said

There should be some stream ..will try to post it once i get it tomorrow. you can check rojadirecta.com tomorrow for listings.

Seems we have nearly closed the loan deal of Ever Banega. $1.5 Million for the year and with a buy option for $11 Million.

    Again about Thiago Neves:
I just read in a Brazilian sports site(globoesporte.com) that the Neves’s agent is in Spain negociating with Atlético and that there are only minor stuff to be discussed until it’s finished.
