Oh, and Valencia don’t bother me one bit! I think we’ll leave there with something– if not a point, then the full 3.

In Orlando, I’ve met A LOT of Brits. I went to a pub called Cricketers Arms Pub to watch the final round of the Premiership. Good time!

Here is the website, if anyone ever plans on traveling to Orlando and would like to see Prem games during the season:

Well done on making the CL.
I look forward to you knocking out Liverpool in the qualifying round.

I hope we put the icing on the cake and beat Valencia next week.

    Aupa Atleti !!

Here’s a random one for you – Forlan to Sunderland? Sounds like random name dropping to make it sound like they’re big players in the transfer market. Obviously, no one in their right mind would leave a Champions League club for Sunderland.

And Maxi wants Aguirre to stay:
“I believe that Aguirre must continue,” the 27-year-old
Argentine player told sports daily Marca.
“I am happy because we have finally achieved it after many
years,” he added. “The dream of every player is to take part in a
competition as revered as the Champions League.”

Knocking out Liverpool in next season’s Champions…now that’s one way of telling Torres he should’ve stayed with us!!

Lots of transfer rumours have been floating about. I can’t wait for the season to be over to see what happens.

Also: I still don’t think Aguirre is the man for the job!

  7. atleti said

Mourinho to Atleti? Dare we dream?

  8. Armon said

We would definitely not be where we are now if Torres didn’t leave. I love Torres for all the years he’s put in Atleti, and I never wish anything but the best for him. Especially if the best includes him somehow coming back to Atletico on a free transfer fee!

  9. Ram said

    He won’t come back.

If Aguirre leaves(which I do not want) we will probably be getting Quique Flores.

  10. Mohammed said

There are so many top managers that are unemployed like Mourinho, Lippi and Rijkaard !! Sven-Goran Eriksson is also on his way out of Man City. So, it’s not difficult to get a top coach, I think.

I agree that Aguirre is not the man for this particular job. He couldn’t do it in the UEFA cup, what about the Champions League?! Being eliminated by Bolton!! what a disgrace!! It could’ve been us playing against Zenit instead of Rangers today.

This season, we haven’t won 4 games in a row. We either lost or drawn the fourth game. Hopefully, things will change in this last fixture.

i know torres isn’t coming ram, i just said i wish he did

Did any of you see the UEFA final yesterday? There’s this one Zenit midfielder who’s passing is so precise, and he sets-up most of their goals. I couldn’t help but to think how this 26 year-old could help us. His name is Arshavin:
(I wanted to throw this out there and would like to hear your comments). After Zenit’s incredible run through the UEFA, I wouldn’t be surprised if there are lots of top European clubs looking at this guy. If we are looking for a Diego-like player, we should consider Arshavin. As the Russian champion, they definitely look ready for CL next year. They would blow us out of the water today . . .

Regarding coaches, here’s my wish list (not necessarily in this order):
Rafa Benitez: he wouldn’t leave his club
Pellegrini: with all the success at Villarreal, I doubt it
Mourinho: dream on –I don’t think he would ever come to Atleti. Don’t think Atleti would pay what he wants.
Rikjaard: Maybe. Not sure that I would want him.
    Erickson: no opinion
Quique Sanchez Flores: better than having Aguirre. Seems to be more offesive-minded. His style is more dynamic than Aguirre’s super-conservative, stubborn, and fixed 4-4-2. From what I remember him from the Valencia days, CL competition, etc., he seems to make the right substitutions at the right time. I’ll take him.

I agree with most people here, Aguirre must go! We’re lucky we made it to CL with him – but if he couldn’t manage the Team successfully in UEFA or Copa del Rey, why would Atleti want to struggle to go past the CL’s group stage? I think a new, more offensive, attitude is needed from the bench…

  15. Ram said

Quique was sacked from Valencia because he played very dull defensive football. Yes..he brings results but that does not offensive play.

  16. Colchonero de Corazon said

The team needs consistency. I think el Vasco is a very good coach. Theres is no reason why he should be gone. While I dont agree with a 4-4-2, I would like to see them try a 4-1-2-1-2 or a 4-5-1 with Aguero playing as a half forward hald mid since he passes the ball so well. The bottom line is that the team needs an upgrade on the defensive side. Priority should be getting at least 2 top notch defenders and then maybe a midfielder who distributes the ball more. The team is set every where else.

  17. Mohammed said

Mourinho is one guy that you can trust he won’t fail you. He puts his mark on the team with great discipline and hard work.

So, he would be ideal for us.

If we pay him what he wants, I think it would be a good investment.

  18. Ram said

Continuity is the key I think. Aguirre is building a team and getting players he thinks would perform well. He had delivered his promise for 2 years and he deserves the next term also.

Cerezo confirms that Lucho will be ours in the next few weeks.

Hopefully, he will solve our midfield problems.

  23. Willen said

Good to hear about Lucho.. sorry, but what is exactly his position?

and, Atleti, how was your vacation?? Are you already missing it?? =)

  24. day1star said

Lucho is an mc, can play both defensive and attacking. I know a lot of you guys don’t like Aguirre, but in my view he should stay.
A lot of the problems the team had this year were to do with injuries and crap cover, some useless players were brought in last year and thankfully Eller and Santana wll be leaving and Abbiati is gone.
With the signings that are coming in, the squad should be a lot stronger next season and Aguirre, in my view, deserves a chance with a good squad of players.
