This & That
Posted by atleti on April 7, 2008
WORDPRESS, the site that hosts my blog, has changed a few things recently. Long story short, I finally figured out how to update my sidebar with the goals.
Next five games:
-away to Real Valladolid
-home to Real Betis
-away to Getafe
-home to Recreativo Huelva
-away to Espanyol
With the exception of SuperGeta and perhaps Espanyol, I think we have a fairly good run of games coming, no?
JEERS & TAUNTS
Reyes and Cleber continue to receive abuse from supporters. Keep it coming– both players need to be continually reminded that they are not wanted at the club.
EL URUGUASHO MAKES HISTORY
After Sunday’s game,Forlán enters the history books of Uruguay and Liga as the highest scoring Uruguayan to play in Liga. 68 goals and still going strong! Congratulations to him!
AJAX SUPPORTERS SHOW APPRECIATION FOR HEITINGA
The Dutchman was thanked for his 150 appearances for the club by supporters– a large banner was created and supporters sang songs in his honour.
RUMOUR-MILL
We’re linked with Bolton’s El Hadji Diouf. Sorry, but I don’t care for this player. NO THANKS. I hope this rumour remains a rumour.
Meanwhile, according to Tuttosport & MARCA, Juventus continue to ‘dream’ of signing Maxi this summer. I highly doubt it.
Anything missing? Share!

I can understand…but why Cleber? He does put in honest effort. I dont think the supporters should be doing that.

Today Simao has echoed the same view….fans can and should improve.

Fair point- I think the reason behind the hatred for Cleber is that he was brought in by Pitarch without consulting anyone else. At best, he’s average, which doesn’t help– if he were more a quality player I doubt anyone would make a fuss about him!

The whistles against Cleber began after Camacho first liga game. But even when Aguirre puts both them play together it doesn’t stop.
I’m not sure, but Cleber, maybe, is not a defensive midfielder, but a right defensive midfielder.
Ram said
The important point is Cleber is not at fault. Why boo the player who is putting his effort for the cause of the team. He might be a player with limited talent, but still that does not mean the crowd has the liberty to jeer him.

has anyone noticed forlans lack of goal scoring, besides penalties.

Be carefull with the Betis and Receativo. The matches at home are very dangerous for us. Greetings from Spain.

Not sure if this has been mentioned before but here’s a transfer rumor about Sinama-Pongolle from Recre:
http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/2008/04/09/liverpool-reject-florent-sinama-pongolle-a-target-for-valencia-and-atletico-madrid-89520-20377498/
I like how they describe him as a reject…very comforting.

Hey guys, if you have a question for Kun, you can ask it on BBC: http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/606/A34365503

Why are we being linked with some very crappy sort of players?
I mean Uche and Sinama-Pongolle though they’re ok players they are not the calibre of players that we should be aiming for. I read that we’re looking at Damian Escudero, a midfielder, i’ve heard that he is pretty good and he’s young, will be 21 in a week’s time, that’s more like the type of players that we need.

Home games are the most important. With nine points vs Betis, Recreativo and Deportivo Uefa cup qualify is assured and Champions League qualify would be easy. Away games are more difficult. Perhaps next game vs Valladolid is the easiest one, and Getafe would be easy too, if los azulones win Copa del Rey or beat Bayern in the Uefa fixture. I woulnd´t bet for us in Espanyol and Valencia games, because anything can happen on these.
Greetings,
Rico.

Getafe, with 1 man down throughout most of the game, looked tough tonight against Bayern. They had it, but if it wasn’t for their crazy goalkeeper . . . are we going to get Braulio back? I’d take him over Diouf. Heck, I would even take Laudrup!

Just got USA/Argentina tickets for Jun 8 at Giants Stadium. This site has the passwords you need to buy. It says it’s for Visa cardholders only but I used my MC and had no problem.

Good news, Aguero will be playing on Sunday, he’s recovered from the cold he had, and we’re going to see Leo Franco back in goal.

Have to win 2morrow, Racing have won, they’re level with us now.

I agree, Laudrup is a very good manager, considering the resources he has available to him. Very savvy.
It’ll be interesting to see how Leo plays after such a long period out of action.
Stupid Valencia are good for nothing this season! I was hoping they would win Racing…oh well, so much for that.
Time to win tomorrow. I don’t care if it’s pretty or ugly…just WIN.
I’ll be watching it as a replay here (5.00pm my time), but feel free to comment on the game anyway!

New entry will be posted after the game!

Just a thought about Valencia:
Valencia are there to make our life difficult. I don’t know what makes them superior to us! They always seem to outwit us even at their worst times. That’s why I think we’ll have a very bad time in the Mestalla when we are going to play against them in our last fixture.

Anyone watching the game? There giving me minor heart attacks, we are not creating any chances. We have had just one shot on goal compared to there 8 shots. We look like a bunch of amateurs. I hope Aguirre gives them a good talking to, we’re not going to be in the top four if we continue to play like this.
day1star said
Luckily for us they’re players don’t seem to know where the goal is.
day1star said
Goal 0-1 Maxi with the goal.

Bad news, they’ve equalised.

disgusting. especially since luis garcia pulled another ‘bolton’ and missed a gimme that easily would’ve sent us through. the only consolations i can get from the result is 1) we truly didn’t deserve a victory, and 2) a tie still puts us ahead of racing.
however, the game gave me more worries, because instead of just being pissed at the defense like i usually am, the midfield was doing an absolutely horrible job of linking up with our forwards. it’s a shame that taking camacho for cleber actually produced results.
one more thing, for the little that he played, reyes actually did well, for the second game in a row! not that i don’t hate him now, but at least this might boost his market value when we ship him away

Crap, crap, crap. It pained me to watch it too.
