Aguero has proved he is worth the money paid for and may be more.

He has made a complete turnaround this season. We can’t afford to lose him.

Definitely. The way he is playing now is more confident and you can see he’s maturing. I think he will grow and improve over the next few years. I hope they don’t give him away to another club because the price is right.

We are doing very well with scoring goals, but our defence is conceding one too many goals. Are there any centre-backs available?

Still, we’re having a fairly good start to the season, all things considered.

This is just a thought, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Cleber and Eller didn’t leave in January. Why? Because these were players Pitarch signed on his own. By shipping them out, it would mean that he made an ‘error’ and was wrong in signing them. Perhaps Aguirre has made it known that he’s unhappy with the defence because he hopes it puts pressure on the board to bring in quality defenders this January.

I remember Aguirre asking for a center back who can play with his left foot and that is why Eller was drafted in. I could not get any names whom we can buy in the winter break. even if we are getting somebody I dont think that we can get a quality player.

I would go for Demichelis of Bayern. Well experienced, good physical prescence and can calm down some of our inexperienced defenders, also i think has a european passport. Seen him play quite a few times looks vey solid.

Is Demichelis regularly used at Bayern? I can’t see him leaving Bayern for us, unless he’s guaranteed a starting 11 spot.

What do you think about Coloccini?

  9. Mohammed said

I think Bayern won’t let a player like Demichelis go, but yet again they have this thing; they let good players leave for nothing like Ballack, Frings, Pizarro and others

It’s hard to find quality defenders these days! I really can’t think of a good defender that is available! Even Walter Samuel is being used by Mancini now after a season on the bench.

By the way, Coloccini is one of the controversial players in my opinion; some people say he’s good, some say he’s bad and I join the latter group.

One name that I could think of is Wilfred Bouma (Holland), he has been a dutch international in Euro 2004. I think he can be ours easily

You’re right about Coloccini. Some people like him, others do not. I’m very much on the fence.

I don’t know much about Bouma. I’ll read up on him this weekend. How about Racing’s Garay, Werder Bremen’s Mertesacker, Sevilla’s Dragutinovic?

My dream choice would be Vidic from Manchester Utd…it’ll never happen, of course.

Forgot to mention: Some supporters have mentioned Fenerbahçe’s Lugano. I find him to have a bit of a temper, though. He has been sent off in the few games that I’ve seen him play. He incites arguments with opposing players on the pitch. Anyway, I think he prefers a move to Italy.

I’d go for del Horno as an alternative for Antonio Lopez who I think has proved to be of no use to the team.

African players have proved to have a good defensive side such as Essien, Viera, Makelele (although french) Obi Mikel (Chelsea). I think its time to get an african talent in our team.

  13. atleti said

del Horno said that he’d only return to Valencia if Quique Sanchez was sacked. Some reports suggest that Mourinho is very close to signing a new with Valencia…

I’m guilty of not knowing much about up-and-coming African talent. It’s a shame there isn’t a site that keeps track of them. Perhaps there is one, I’m just not aware of it.

not many teams would be ready to sell their good players in the middle of season. We need to consider whether the player incoming would be able to play in the UEFA cup also. I would not mind Coloccini as he can play in the mid field also and was good when he was with us.

Good point. In that case, Garay would be the best choice. Or, Coloccini
