Raul Garcia Talks to the Press

Raul Garcia, our most consistent signing of the summer thus far, has spoken to the press. He believes that despite our sluggish start, we’ll still do well.

Here are a few excerpts of his interview:

On the week:
This week has been a bit special with the commitments several of the players have had with their national teams. We’ll start to work together on Friday to prepare for Sunday’s match against Murcia. On a personal level, I can say that I’ve returned with a strong desire. It’s true that we don’t have much time to prepare for the match, but that’s what we’re left with and we can’t think about it too much.

On results thus far:
the results in the two matches haven’t been what we had hoped for, but we’re on the right path. We’ve had lots of scoring chances and that’s important. The team is calm; we have to work and continue in the same way, and the results will surely come soon.

On Sunday’s game against Murcia:
We hope to win against Real Murcia and gain confidence and that way we won’t lose the trail of the teams up top.

Based on his performances thus far, I doubt manager Aguirre will drop him to the bench. I think competition for the second central midfield spot will be between Maniche and Motta.

In other news, Abbiati is still a doubt for Murcia
