Jornada 1: Madrid Derbi Videos

Posted by atleti on August 26, 2007

I’ve seen the videos and it doesn’t look as grim as a lot of supporters have painted it- granted, we still need to work on defence. Pernia did look terrible (wreckless tackles and conceding unnecessary free kicks). We were  caught offguard by a set-piece brought on by centre-back Perea’s tackle outside of the penalty area.

I still think Aguirre should have brought on Luis Garcia.

Here’s Aguero’s 1st half goal:

Here’s the entire second half in three parts:

Part I, Part II, Part III.

I thought they looked alright actually, better than whatever I thought I was going to see. But the back looked pretty weak and Pernia really just needs to go. Maxi wasn’t as invisible as I thought but he really needs to perform. And if he’s not performing, he really needs to come out.

They didn’t win this one but they’re still looking good to me. If they can balance the attack with a strong defense, we’ll all be smiling.

Found out some more about why the game wasn’t shown on TV. Seems the owners of La Liga’s TV rights are squabbling with the distributors over … what else … money. So they’re holding us all hostage until they get it sorted out. :( http://www.theoffside.com/leagues/spain-la-liga/did-anyone-see-the-madrid-derby.html

I think the TV rights issue only affects games with Re*l M*drid and Barcelona…I think! So, hopefully, when we play Mallorca next weekend, it’ll be on TV.

    Crossing fingers here.
