Full Squad Train This Weekend
Posted by atleti on August 11, 2007
At long last, the entire squad has participated in a training session! Everyone has had some time off for rest & relaxation, but now it’s time to get to business! Not only do we face Serbian club FK Vojvodina this Thursday (16th of August) at home (1st leg to qualify for UEFA), but Liga begins two weeks from now.
Agüero, Forlán, Cléber Santana, Perea and Mario Suárez are all back from holiday. Thankfully, with Perea now with Spanish citizenship, Brasilian Cleber will have no problem being utilised by Javier Aguirre. The same goes for Aguero and Eller.
There’s a bit of excitement surrounding Cleber- quite a few Atleti supporters (myself included) are excited about seeing what he has to offer. He’s the only player on the squad that has not played a game yet. (As a reminder: he’s a 25 year old attacking midfielder.)
Of note: Ze Castro (injured during the Amsterdam Tournament) has recovered from his muscular pain and fully participated in the training session.
Also: Left-back Juan Valera, who is still recuperating from an ankle injury, although he has made tremendous progress, he will have the weekend off, a recommendation of the physio and technical body. In addition: Midfielder Miguel de las Cuevas will have the next few days off as he continues to recuperate from his own long-term ankle injury (an injury he received nearly a year ago!). He has also made considerable progress.
Hopefully both Valera and Miguel will return to the pitch soon and return to good form.
MEANWHILE, IN THE RUMOUR MILL, Javi Garcia, the cousin of Luis Garcia, is linked with Atletico. It’s curious rumour because Javi plays for
Re*l M*drid‘s B team. If such a rumour becomes true, it’ll be very similar to Jurado’s transfer. Jurado is a product of Re*l M*drid‘s B team and joined Atletico. I have mixed feelings on such a move. Let’s see how things pan out.
