Jornada 14: Sporting de Gijon v Atlético de Madrid
Posted by atleti on December 5, 2008
Yes, Sporting have gone on a very good run recently, but I believe we have enough quality to leave with 3 points tomorrow. Historically, we have a very good record against Sporting in their home stadium. There’s still a little piece of me that worries about fixtures like these, though– this is the type of club that could complicate our lives if we don’t keep our guard up…
Here’s our Starting 11: Leo Franco; Seitaridis, Heitinga, Ujfalusi, Pernía; Assunção, Maniche, Maxi, Simão; Forlán & Kun Agüero.
Here’s hoping for a positive result!
Unfortunately, this game won’t be available (en vivo) in the USA.
Anything missing?

shoddy defense, and why do some of the players have problems passing the ball. nice to see Aguero regaining his form.

Great to have a 5-2 win.
Great to see Forlán playing nice again.
Great to see Kun performing well again.
Very sad to read that Barcelona should buy Aguero. He’s cheap. Only 40.000.000EUR. Pretty far from what Madrid was going to pay for Cristiano Ronaldo. Pretty affordable for any big club. Who wouldn’t imagine that a club could pay this? Probably next La Liga will have Messi + Aguero.
I said that we should raise his buyout clause to something obscene. That’s what a big club would do.

Great result, but I can’t say the same about the performance. Aguero and Forlan were clinical. Paulo Assuncao was crucial, and God Raul looks so slow. Seitaridis, crappy as always.

El Depornauta says that Barça will pay €55 million for Agüero, who rejected a massive offer to leave the Madrid side for Chelsea this summer.

The price is 40,000 POUNDS not euros and the rumour came from Argentina and not the spanish press.I am a little sceptical. If we qualify for the CL again I think he will stay another season. With us he is adored, starts every game if fit and his bird is about to have a sprog. If we don’t qualify for the CL Simao and Forlan will probably leave too.If the money is reinvested in players then fair enough.Finishing in the top 4 is crucial.

A wonder from the son in law of the greatest footballer of all time. That is Kun Aguero.
Yesterday, it was all about him as Atletico got their much anticipated win at Gijon. It’s been a while since I’ve since red and white part of Madrid entertain me with such beautiful and dazzling football.

By the way, please check out that wonderful picture (a special tribute to Kun) created by our friend Muhammad Ali from Jordan.

It was an very open match and both teams were attacking until it was 2-5..good spectacle and typical Atleti. Even with a lone opposition striker our central defenders could not mark him tightly and Bilic wasted 2 chances which would have made the difference. Our full backs were somewhat weak today but not too bad.
MoM to Forlan for never giving up and for hitting the target everytime.

Next fixtures Atleti-Betis, Espanyol-Atleti. If we get the six points, we can enjoy our Xtmas time in Champios positions.
Now Atleti must go to play in Marseille with the very same actitude and blow-up the Velodrome, goaling them and preventing them for playing the UEFA Cup.
un abrazo. miguel

we can probably jumb to fourth by next match if sevilla loses to villareal and its obvious real madrid is going to lose to barca

I’m sorry but MOM was Aguero and deservedly so 2 goals and an assist and he was everywhere too, would have scored a hat-trick if Forlan had passed the ball instead of putting it in himself.

so defensive in the second half, midfield was poor. i did definitely want to point out that banega was magnificent in the first half. ive seen him show moments of brilliance w/ his dribbling but the first half truly showed some of his defensive capabilities, and he never stopped running. I definitely hope to use him more often. and my god how things wouldve been different if aguero passed to sinama for the gimme goal in the first minutes!
